The Storm was a bit more competitive, but the outcome was no different on a miserable road trip as the Storm lost in Chicago to the Sky 74-58 Wednesday, thanks to another late-game collapse.
The Storm was outscored 20-8 in the final period, including a 16-3 run by the Sky (7-1) after the Storm pulled within four near the end of the third period.
Tina Thompson scored 13 points and Ann Wauters had 12 as Seattle (1-7) dropped its sixth straight on the road and fourth in a row overall. The Sky, which led wire-to-wire, was led by the WNBA’s top scorer, Epiphanny Prince, who had 17 points, eight below her average. Sylvia Fowles had 16 points and 15 rebounds. It was the sixth win in a row for the Sky, a franchise record.
Sue Bird had eight points and 10 assists, but missed all three three-point attempts and six of nine overall as the Storm made only four of 16 beyond the arc. Chicago outrebounded the Storm 44-21.
The Storm play at 0-8 Tulsa Friday.
