LHP Lucas Luetge was recalled Friday from AAA Tacoma to fill a roster vacancy. The Mariners did not need to make another move since they sent INL/OF Nick Franklin and RHP Erasmo Ramierez to the minor leagues following Wednesday’s 5-3 victory over the Houston Astros.
Luetge, in his second stint with the Mariners this season, was to be available for a three-game series with AL West-leading Texas at 7 p.m. Friday night at Safeco Field.
In two appearances, he had no record and 18.00 ERA. The Mariners optioned him back to Tacoma April 14. With the Rainiers, he was 1-0 with a 5.79 ERA and one save.
After the Rangers, the Mariners head to New York to begin a nine-game road trip. The junket will include three at Yankee Stadium, three at Houston and three at Oakland. The Mariners return May 8 to begin a four-game set with the Kansas City Royals.
