The Seahawks Wednesday signed rookie wide receiver Kevin Smith, an undrafted free agent out of the University of Washington originally inked by the Arizona Cardinals. Smith signed with Arizona May 12, was released June 4 and claimed off waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars June 5. They let Smith go June 19.
Smith posted a team-high 765 receiving yards on 50 catches with four receiving touchdowns during his senior season at Washington, averaging 58.8 yards per game. During his career, Smith played in 47 games with 72 receptions for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns, while also returning 62 kicks for 1,445 yards for an average of 23.3 yards per return.
During the 2013 season, Smith started all 13 games. He had five receptions for 104 yards in the Huskies’ win over Illinois, had a 70-yard reception for a touchdown at Arizona, had six catches for 98 yards and a touchdown at Stanford, had three catches, including a 23-yard touchdown, at Oregon State, and had four catches for 41 yards in the Apple Cup against Washington State.
Smith ended his UW career with a team-high five catches for 43 yards in the Fight Hunger Bowl victory over BYU.
