As part of the Make-a-Wish Foundation project, the Sounders signed for the friendly with Tottenham at 1 p.m. Saturday an 18-year-old midfielder from West Virginia whose favorite player is Clint Dempsey. Xander Bailey will be signed to a one-day contract.
“It’s an exciting day for the club,” said Sounders coach Sigi Schmid in a club release. “We have been searching for a midfielder and we were able to find Xander. We are really excited that he is going to be joining our team and we are looking forward to him being here in time for our game against Tottenham Hotspur. We have high hopes and great expectations for Xander.”
Bailey plays for the King’s Warriors PDL reserve team. He began his career with the East River Raptors in 2004 before joining New River United in 2006, where he played four years. Bailey is expected to join Sounders FC training Friday.

Might be worthy to note that this is part of the Make-a-wish program. Classy move by the club.
Very cool to read. Looking forward to seeing Xander on the sidelines this Saturday.
