The University of Washington announced Saturday that TE Derrick Brown has been suspended indefinitely from the football team and that freshman safety Lavon Washington has been dismissed from the program. According to UW, both players violated team rules in separate incidents. The Huskies did not say what rules were violated.
Head coach Chris Petersen did not issue a statement and the school said that no UW personnel would comment.
Brown is a junior from Winchester, CA., who began his UW career in 2011. He started out as a quarterback and redshirted that season. Brown saw his first game action in 2012, playing briefly against LSU, Portland and Colorado. Brown made the switch from quarterback to H-back in 2013 and played against Idaho State.
A freshman defensive back, Washington is from Oakland, CA. He attended McClymonds High School.
