The Mariners Monday claimed RHP Cody Martin off waivers from the Oakland Athletics, adding him to their 40-man roster. To make room, the club released RHP Logan Kensing. The 26-year-old Martin joined the A’s July 2 in a trade with Atlanta and appeared in four games (two starts), going 0-2 with a 14.00 ERA.
Prior to joining the A’s Sept. 1, Martin went 4-4 with a 5.10 ERA (34 ER, 60.0 IP) in 11 starts with Triple-A Nashville.

Martin was selected by the Braves in the seventh round of the 2011 draft and is 31-29 with a 3.24 ERA in 118 games, including 84 starts, in five minor league seasons.
Kensing, 33, went 2-1 with a 5.87 ERA in 19 relief appearances with Seattle last season. He also appeared in 19 games in his second season with Tacoma, going 2-0 with one save and a 2.23 ERA after signing a minor league player contract with Seattle May 13.
