The Mariners Wednesday outrighted OF Dan Robertson to AAA Tacoma and claimed LHP Rob Rasmussen off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels. Seattle designated Robertson for assignment Dec. 18 to make room on the 40-man roster for Hisashi Iwakuma, while Rasmussen rejoins the club after he was designated Dec. 14 to make room for Steve Cishek.
The Mariners claimed Robertson, 30, off waivers Nov. 6. He spent last season in the Angels organization and had two stints in the majors, hitting .280 with seven RBIs in 37 games. Robertson also played for AAA Salt Lake City.
In parts of two seasons with the Angels (2015) and Texas Rangers (2014), Robertson combined to hit .274 with 33 runs and 28 RBIs in 107 games. He was selected by San Diego in the 33rd round of the 2008 draft out of Oregon State University.
Seattle acquired Rasmussen from Toronto July 31 as part of a four-player deal. He went 2-1 with a 10.67 ERA in 19 games with the Mariners. He also appeared in one game last season with the Blue Jays. In parts of two seasons (2014-15), he has a mark of 2-1, 7.09 ERA in 30 games.
