The Mariners Monday expanded their active roster to 35 players by recalling INF Mike Freeman, RHP Cody Martin and INF Dan Vogelbach from AAA Tacoma. All will be available Monday night at 7:05 p.m. when Seattle starts a three-game series with the Angels in Anaheim.
Freeman, 29, played two games over two stints with Seattle this season. Since being optioned to Tacoma Aug. 27, Freeman hit .333 with two homers and eight RBIs in nine games. In 26 games with the Rainiers this season, Freeman hit .305 with three home runs and 15 RBIs.
He made his Mariners debut Aug. 7, six days after he was claimed off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks. In parts of seven minor league seasons with Arizona (2010-16) and Seattle, he is batting .290 with 18 home runs and 270 RBIs in 742 career games.
Martin, 26, is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA in three stints with Seattle this year. After being optioned to AAA Tacoma Aug. 23, Martin went 1-0 with a 0.79 ERA in two starts. Seattle claimed Martin off waivers from Oakland Oct. 29.
Vogelbach, 24, makes MLB debut with his first appearance. In 44 games with Tacoma after being acquired from the Chicago Cubs July 20, Vogelbach hit .240 with seven home runs and 32 RBIs.
LHP Ariel Miranda (3-1, 4.79) will throw for Seattle Monday opposite RHP Ricky Nolasco (5-13, 4.90).
The Mariners (75-68), who have won five in a row and six of their past eight, start the series 9.5 games behind the Texas Rangers in the AL West and 3.5 back of Baltimore and Toronto for the second wild card slot.
