After dropping a pair of games to the Los Angeles Sparks, the revamped Storm continued to stagger Sunday, dropping an 84-71 decision to the WNBA defending champion Lynx in Minneapolis.
The Storm hasn’t started 0-3 since 2003. The team’s worst start was 0-4 in their inaugural season of 2000.
Seattle led briefly early but fell behind quickly and trailed by as much as 20 points. The Storm settled for outside shots, attempting a club-record 34 three-pointers and making 14, tying the record. The Storm attempted only 32 regular field goals.
Ann Wauters’ 13 points and nine rebounds led the Storm. Sue Bird had a tough night missing eight of 10 shots and making five turnovers against nine assists. Seattle is playing without star Lauren Jackson, who is training with her native Australia team for the Olympis in July.
Maya Moore led Minnesota with 19 points, including five of seven treys.
