At 6:05 p.m. Thursday evening, the local data center, NetRiver, that hosts SportspressNW.com’s web servers, suffered a catastrophic failure. When a second mechanical failure prevented the facility from switching to backup generators, many servers, including those of SportspressNW.com, eventually lost power.
We set up a temporary page informing readers of the situation, and as of 8:45 a.m. we are back online, ready to cover the Mariners, Sounders and Opening Ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in London.
