Rain Friday washed out what was becoming the worst performance by the Mariners this spring. When the game was canceled in the fourth inning at Peoria Stadium, Seattle trailed Oakland 12-1 after a barrage of Athletics home runs, three of them off Hector Noesi, who reeked.
Noesi, who began the 2012 season in the Seattle rotation before pitching himself to AAA Tacoma, gave up five hits, a walk and threw a wild pitch in addition to allowing the three Oakland bombs. He did all of that with just 52 pitches.
Former Mariner John Jaso doubled off Noesi to start a five-run rally in the first inning.
Seattle collected its only run on a solo homer by Casper Wells in the second inning off A’s starter A.L. Griffin.
When the game was called in the fourth, the Athletics had runners on first and second after Michael Choice’s two-run homer.
If the rains subside Saturday, Jon Garland will continue his bid for a rotation spot when the Mariners travel to Glendale for a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at 12:05 p.m., PT. Garland, who has yet to allow a run this spring, is scheduled to work three innings with LHP Joe Saunders expected to follow with three innings.

I know it’s just spring training but Noesi should be moved over to the minor league side of camp as soon as they start tomorrow.
