Seahawks backup tight end Anthony McCoy is out at least six months after surgery to repair an Achilles tendon torn during organized team activities this week, according to USA Today.
McCoy, a sixth-round pick in 2010, made seven starts last season and played in all 18 games, mostly in double tight end sets with Zach Miller. In the regular season, he had 18 catches for 291 yards.
In the April draft, the Seahawks took Rice tight end Luke Wilson in the fifth round.
The Seahawks may put McCoy on the physically unable to perform list, which means he would sit out 12 but not count against the final 53-man roster.
