The Sounders Wednesday traded midfielder Alex Caskey to D.C. United in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. Caskey, 25, made 30 appearances (17 starts) over the past two seasons for Seattle, scoring one goal with four assists. Across all competitions, he started 29 of 42 appearances, registering three goals and seven assists in 2,469 minutes.
Caskey was selected in the third round (47th overall) of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft and was signed March 13, 2012.
The Sounders start their sixth season — and MLS’s 19th — Saturday against MLS Cup champion Sporting Kansas City on NBC Sports Network at noon at the Clink.

I watch spring training mostly to get my baseball fix taken care of. Other points are watching the position battles, see how the rookies and free agents perform and how the pitchers and hitters look. Sometimes I’ll watch just to be reminded what warm weather looks like. I don’t pay attention at all to the record of the club.
