ESPN reported Thursday that four-time All-Pro defensive end Jared Allen had reached agreement with the Super Bowl champion Seahawks, but NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport debunked that, saying on Twitter that while Allen in fact met with the Seahawks for a second time, his visit “was just talking. No deal at this time.”
The Seahawks do have a deal with OG Stephen Schilling, a 25-year-old Bellevue High School graduate who was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He was signed to add depth to the offensive line.
Allen has 128.5 career sacks and would be the first big-name player signed by the Seahawks in free agency. Seattle has lost nine players in the FA process and were also forced to cut DEs Red Bryant and Chris Clemons in order to clear salary-cap space.
Allen’s visit with the Seahawks Thursday is his second in a week. He also visited with the Dallas Cowboys, but won’t be going to Texas as the Cowboys just signed Henry Melton, a free agent from the Chicago Bears, to replace DeMarcus Ware.

As none of our D-linemen had more than 67% of the snaps, this is a great situation for Allen extending his career.
Obviously money talks but so does keeping your body in one piece after 30+.
Pete and John know what they are doing and whether Allen comes on board or not, they will make sure it works out.
I am very much looking forward to the final roster – who they get from the draft, the others not drafted and those that are invited into camp for a look.
It’s going to be the reincarnation, to an extent, and a test of Pete and John’s system.
