The Seahawks signed backup QB Stephen Morris Friday, the first quarterback to be added to the roster besides Russell Wilson. Colin Kaepernick, who was going to work out Monday for the Seahawks, remains a free agent after he declined to clarify his position on any pre-game protest against social injustice (see Thiel: Bennett’s Book Helps Explain Balk at Kap).
Morris, 25, has never taken a snap in a regular-season NFL game since being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014. He spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts, and had a cup of coffee with the Washington Redskins earlier this year before being waived.
The Seahawks begin their offseason workouts Monday. Morris probably won’t be the last quarterback Seattle will try out in coming weeks.
Morris (6-foot-2, 218 pounds) played college football at the University of Miami. As a senior in 2013, he threw for 3,345 yards and 21 touchdowns. On Sept. 29, 2012, in a game against North Carolina State, he set the Atlantic Coast Conference record for passing yards in a game with 566.
Kaepernick, 30, was not signed last season after becoming the focus of national controversy in 2016 when he first sat for the national anthem with the San Francisco 49ers.

I’m going out on a limb and predicting he won’t be on the 53 man roster in September.
