After a tragic foul-ball incident at Yankee Stadium last season, the Mariners will join more than 20 MLB clubs in extending safety netting to the outside edges of dugouts.

The Mariners Friday claimed right-handed reliever Chasen Bradford off waivers from the New York Mets and added him to their 40-man roster, which is now full. The Mets designated the 28-year-old Bradford for assignment Wednesday.

Tyler Hilinski, likely the starting QB for Washington State in the fall, was found dead in his apartment by Pullman police, apparently by a self-inflicted gunshot.
