The Mariners Wednesday acquired RHP Shawn Armstrong from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for international slot money, and re-acquired minor league LHP Anthony Misiewicz from Tampa Bay, also for slot money. The deals by GM Jerry Dipoto at the winter meetings in Lake Buena Vista, FL., put Seattle’s 40-man roster at 38 players.

Washington State’s Hercules Mata’afa was named first-team All-America by the Associated Press, the first Cougars defensive lineman to earn that accolade since 2002.
The Mariners Monday acquired OF Cameron Perkins off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies, a move that came during baseball’s annual winter meetings at Lake Buena Vista, FL. Perkins, 27, made his MLB debut last season and appeared in 42 games, batting .182 with one home run and eight RBIs.
Jacksonville scored 21 points in less than five minutes of the third quarter, but had to hang on to survive another fantastic fourth quarter by Russell Wilson.
After failing to lure Japanese star Shohei Ohtani Friday, the Mariners claimed 26-year-old RHP Mike Morin off waivers from Kansas City. Morin went 0-0 with a 7.20 ERA in 16 combined games with the Los Angeles Angels and Royals last season, and also spent part of the year with AAA Salt Lake City.
Not only did the Mariners acquire an All-Star and a batting champ Thursday, they collected $1 million that they can apply toward signing Japanese star Shohei Ohtani.
Daniel F. Fears, an attorney representing Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon, said Thursday that his client adamantly denies sexual harassment allegations made against him this week by a former employee of Moon’s, Wendy Haskell. Those allegations, contained in a lawsuit filed against Moon Monday, can be found here.
Warren Moon, a Seattle sports icon, is the latest in an expanding list of nationally prominent men to get sued for sexual harassment.
Washington DT Vita Vea Tuesday joined Steve Emtman as the only Huskies to win Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year award and the Morris Trophy.
Washington placed five players on the All-Pac-12 first team and Washington State contributed two. Six Huskies and three Cougars made the second team.
