Bergman is expected to join the Mariners in time for the start of Monday’s 4 p.m. PT game against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.
The Mariners Wednesday reinstated reliever David Phelps from the disabled list and, to make room on the 25-man major league roster, designated OF Leonys Martin for assignment. Phelps will be available to the club when it takes on the Braves in Atlanta in the finale of a three-game series Wednesday night.

Desperate to replenish their offensive line in the wake of the season-ending knee injury to LT George Fant Friday, the Seahawks Monday sent a 2018 fifth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire 27-year-old Matt Tobin, who has mainly played guard during his five-year NFL career. Seattle will also receive a 2018 seventh-round pick.
