The Mariners Friday agreed to terms with first baseman/designated hitter Kendrys Morales and shortstop Brendan Ryan on one-year contracts for the 2013 season. No contract terms were disclosed. The Mariners now have one remaining arbitration-eligible player (RHP Shawn Kelley). The Mariners and Kelley have exchanged arbitration salary figures in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

The Seattle Sounders used their first pick in the MLS SuperDraft Thursday, No. 10 overall, to select Eriq Zavaleta, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound forward from the University of Indiana. The Sounders originally owned the 16th choice, but made a trade with Toronto FC to move up and select Zavaleta.

The Seattle Seahawks named University of Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as their new defensive coordinator, replacing Gus Bradley, who was selected the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday. The Seahawks made the Quinn announcement on their Twitter account just hours after Bradley agreed to coach the Jaguars.
